Stitch Fix Review: My First “Fix”

Stitch-Fix-Fashion

Heard of Stitch Fix? Still haven’t decided whether to try it? That’s where I was just a short few weeks ago. So let me help… I finally ordered my first fix. Here’s how it went:

I saw a friend on Facebook had done it and I thought, “What’s that?” So I clicked on the link, which redirected me to their website. I love clothes, even though I rarely take the time to put them on (nice ones, anyway) so of course, curiosity got the best of me. Before I knew it, I had signed up for an account and was filling out their comprehensive questionnaire. This is so their stylists can get to know your likes, dislikes, body type, fashion style and so on. I scheduled my first fix for a month or so out, because financially – this was not the smartest thing for me to be doing. In fact, let’s just call it what it is – flat out stupid. But nobody’s ever accused me of being responsible, so… whatever. It sounded fun. :o)

I really wasn’t expecting that much because I didn’t feel like, after filling out that questionnaire, they’d have a good handle on me. To be quite frank, when they asked all those questions about whether I liked certain palettes they put together, I wasn’t even sure of my answer! I liked some, but not others and didn’t always feel like just one answer suited the question.

Rest easy though, because apparently – they know what they’re doing. When I got my email notification that my first “Fix” was on the way, I started to get excited. Those ladies over there at Stitch Fix are pretty awesome too, because when I tweeted about it – they responded! Love people like that. :o)

Yesterday, I had a pizza delivered – because I’m lazy like that and I’ve been sick… I didn’t feel like cooking dinner. Also – just let it be known that I absolutely love pizza and will eat it at every opportunity. Anyway, I look down and my Stitch Fix box is there!!! Just waiting for me on my porch! Let’s open it!

Isn’t that so cute?! So inviting! Like, “Hey, open me and love everything in this box… you know you want to.” And I did want to… So let’s get down to the good stuff. You want to see what they sent me right? Well lucky for you – and me – I have a sister who lives right next door, and she happens to have a camera. So we did our own little makeshift photo shoot. Just for you. Let’s keep in mind though folks, that I’m not a model. I’m a dork. And therefore, I look dorky in my pictures. But the clothes are still cute and that’s all that matters. :o)

This is the Malcolm Heathered Dolman Sleeve Knit Shirt. What do you think? I feel like there is a tiny bit of Navy in this heather, but I could be wrong. I like it. Fits me like a glove. Perfect.

The jeans are also from the Fix; Kensie’s Johnny Skinny Jeans. They are actually kind of high waisted, which I loved. Let’s be honest, I’m not “high school skinny” anymore, so I very much appreciated the stretchy, high quality and very comfortable feel of these jeans. And with the higher waist, it didn’t cut my love handles off right in the middle. Awesome. Perfect fit. Again.

Man, look at those jeans – huggin’ my behind like they are doin’ it a favor. Very comfortable.

Oh and this one below is just me being a dork. Big surprise there… I think Lindsey had a hard time keeping a straight face. But that’s how I roll. Look how cute that top is though…

And the full length shot… the shoes are mine, and since I never get to wear them – I thought I should bust them out.

The next outfit was not my favorite. While I still love the Skinny Jeans, and I did love this top (Wrenn V-Neck Jersey Top) when it came out of the box – I just didn’t love how it fit me. You tell me what you think…

Do you agree? While I love the color and I like the shirt in theory, I felt like the loose sleeves accentuated my not-very-fit arms (I’m avoiding the “fat” word), the bottom was a bit big and I didn’t love the way it hung on me.

The next outfit though, was in fact, my favorite. You tell me if you agree. This is a Chloe Chevron Striped Maxi Skirt with an Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan. The white shirt and belt are mine from home, and so are the nude sling-back heels.

Oh no wait… that’s just me being a dork again. Great outfit though right? Okay let’s try this one:

Oh, woops – that’s me being a dork again… Well sorry! Dorky pictures is all I got… that’s just who  I am. But the outfit – it’s pretty cute right? I really loved the Navy with the brown… Super cute. What do you think? You need another dorky picture before you can decide? Okay fine, here you go:

Stitch-Fix-Fashion

The Navy is nice right?? Especially with the gold bracelets (from home)… I’m definitely diggin’ on this outfit. You like? Be honest… I need some opinions.

I want to make a side note really quick: I get a lot of questions about what kinds of clothes I can wear with my Ileostomy, which you can read all about here. You tell me, can you see my bag in any of these pictures? Even if you know exactly where it is, I bet you can’t see it. The answer is anything. I can wear pretty much anything I want. So if you’re facing the surgery – don’t stress about it! You can still be cute and fashionable with an Ostomy! I promise, nobody will ever know what you’ve got underneath that super cute top. :o)

Okay, so let’s get down to the nitty gritty of this review – the stuff you really need to know. Yes, the clothes are cute! We’ve already seen that they have great taste! And yes, I’m a dork – but let’s talk about what you really want to know. How does it work? Here’s the deal – you sign up and schedule your first fix. Each fix costs $20, but if you purchase anything they send you, then that money goes towards your final cost. When you open your box, you’ll find an envelope with pre-paid postage. You have 3 days to decide what you want to keep and what you don’t… the rest goes in the envelope and back in the mail by the 3rd day. Then you hop on the website and login – and checkout. You let them know what you kept and what you’re sending back, and they charge your card accordingly. But there’s more! If you purchase all 5 items in your box, you get 25% off the entire order! Talk about incentive! The best part? There’s no commitment. You can sign up for a monthly fix if you want to – which is what I would do, or you can just hop online and let them know whenever you want one!

So, knowing all that I know… and having tried on all the clothes, would I become a regular customer of Stitch Fix? ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY. This was really fun you guys! Getting a package in the mail with new clothes is so great! And knowing that a professional stylist who knows what you like and don’t like, is picking those items out for you? Even better! Then you add to that, the fact that you’re keeping your wardrobe new and fresh – Super Awesome. Plus, they are picking out stuff  that you may not have picked out at a store, but since it’s sitting in your box – you may as well try it on.

I really love this idea… I can’t believe someone hasn’t thought of it sooner! I also love that with each Fix, they’ll get better and better at knowing what you like because they keep track of what you’re returning and why. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. I’m a fan you guys. And I’ll do this as often as I can afford to. I hope that you’ll check it out too. If you’re curious – just click on this link to their website: Stitch Fix and sign up. You can totally look around and fill out the questionnaire without ever scheduling a Fix. I totally didn’t expect to schedule one, but I’m glad I did. Now, I have a great outfit to wear to church this Sunday. Yay!

By the way, this is not a sponsored post… I just actually enjoyed my first Fix that much. The photo shoot with my sister was fun too. Thanks Lindsey for taking time out of your day to shoot these. She’s a rockstar – she had a baby strapped to her chest and my toddler screaming at her feet. That’s love right there. So what are you waiting for? I wanna hear about your first fix!

I received my very first Stitch Fix last month! Loved it and am now in love with searching for every blog post and YouTube video review! Happy to have found you via #SITSSharefest. I love the Navy Cardigan and Navy Chevron Maxi. We’re moving so now I have to put a hold on my next fix. Tear.

You look great in everything but I especially love the Sunday outfit. Do you get one fix a month for $20? And you can “rent” the clothes for three days?

Love your adorable photoshoot. I wish I was ya’lls neighbor. You and your sis are so adorable.

Thanks! Living next door to Lindsey has definitely had it’s perks, and we only drive each other crazy every once in a great while. :o)

The clothes are not a rental. You pay $20 for them to send you a Fix…if you buy something the $20 is applied towards your purchase. You decided which pieces you want to buy and just pay for what you want and send the others back. You have 3 days so you have time to play dress up and drop the return at the post office if you are sending something back.
